Obituary
Lawrence Gustav "Larry" Andres, 72, born on Nov.
2, 1938, in Newton, to Orlando and Esther (Foth) Andres, died at his home in
the arms of his wife on Sept. 30, 2011. Diabetes and heart disease contributed
to his cardiac failure.
He and his first wife, Libby (Elizabeth Ann Dyrness) brought
forth four beautiful children: Jonathan and wife, Laura, of St. Louis, David
and wife, Beverly, of Cranbury, N.J., Elizabeth and husband, David Steed, of
Fort Worth, Texas, and Jeremy of Washington, their "Upper" Down's
Syndrome son who predeceased his father in 1996 at age 19 1⁄2. Larry and Libby
would have been married 50 years this year (July 21, 1961), but Libby died of
cancer in 1979 at age 41. A year later, Larry married Gabette
(Gabrielle-Elizabeth Hamlin), who survives him.
Nine amazing grandchildren survive him: two girls and a boy
in each family. He also is survived by his sister, Joan Andres Corey of West
Terre Haute, Ind.
Larry also leaves behind loving relatives in Newton.
A pastor first and then a seller of smoked meats, he would
quip he preached the Truth on the weekend and sold bologna during the week.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Moles
Greenacres Funeral Chapel, 5700 Northwest Drive in Ferndale, Wash., with burial
immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery nearby.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pacific Garden
Mission Building Fund in Chicago ("Unshackled") or to the local
Bellingham Light House Mission.
