Obituary
Jacqueline O. Burnett, 88, died July
31, 2017, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. She was born
March 19, 1929, in Hanford, California, to John R. and Isla B.
(Schippert) Goodbary.
She was a 1946 graduate of Waynoka High
School, Waynoka, Oklahoma. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from
the Halstead Hospital School of Nursing in 1949, attended the
University of Kansas from 1951 to 1952 and earned a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing from Bethel College in 1982.
Her career in nursing commenced at
Halstead Hospital. There, she met a medical student by the name of
Arthur Dean Burnett. They were married June 8, 1952, in Halstead. He
preceded her in death Nov. 3, 2008.
She was very active in Halstead as a
member of First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. Chapter AK, Hertzler
Research Foundation Board of Directors, Halstead Hospital School of
Nursing Alumni and Halstead Hospital Auxiliary, as well as a Girl
Scout leader and volunteer at Neighbors. She was also past President
of the Kansas Medical Auxiliary.
Survivors include sons, Steven,
Halstead and John (Juli) Burnett, Canton, Ohio; daughter, Mary
Burnett, Denver; and granddaughters Erin Burnett, Hollywood,
California, and Lyndy Burnett, Washington, D.C.
A memorial service will be held at 10
a.m. Aug. 26, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, Halstead, with
Pastor Tony D'Olio officiating. A private inurnment will be at
Halstead Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Halstead
Bible Fellowship of Hertzler Research Foundation in care of Kaufman
Funeral Home, Halstead.
