From FAG

Gladys Ann Platt

Gladys Ann Hage was born on January 24, 1927 in Michigan. Her parents were Thomas and Cora Hage. She had a brother Russell, and sisters Glyndowyn and Betty. Gladys was interested in serving the Lord, which led her to attend Wheaton College.

Gladys was married to Albert Platt whom she met at Wheaton College while a freshmen, they were married in 1948 after they graduated.

The most interesting story about Gladie is that her sister married her husband’s brother. In other words, her sister Betty married her husband’s brother, in 1953, she married Raymond Logan Platt in Muskegon, Michigan. So Gladie and her sister had the last name Platt.

Gladie and Al joined CAM International Mission and in 1951, they went to language school in Costa Rica. This began a 23 year ministry in Central America, such as SETECA seminary in Guatemala City. While with CAM, she was active with RGBI through her missionary service.

Gladie was a marvelous piano player. She was a speaker. She was an excellent cook and hostess. She practiced hospitality among many visitors, planning events.

While her husband Dr. Albert T. Platt was the President of CAM International (now called Camino Global,) or Center American Mission International, in Dallas, Texas from 1974 until he became President Emeritus. She encouraged many missionaries and served in the Lord with her life.

She was the mother of three girls: Elizabeth Gayle Platt Sandoval Platt, Roberta Ann Platt Friesen Platt, and Brenda Joann Platt. Brenda (Brendy) was born with cerebral palsy and Gladie was her caregiver. Gladie was diagnosed with lung cancer and gave a brave fight, but she departed to be with her Lord on December 19, 2009. She will be greatly missed and warmly remembered. She leaves a legacy of Christian Service and example of God's faithfulness.
