Gustav 'Gus' Harold Entz

Gustav "Gus" Harold Entz, 89, of Newton died Wednesday, (Oct. 7, 2009) at Asbury Park in Newton. Gus was born on Aug. 7, 1920 in Newton, the son of Gustav and Katie Regier Entz. He married Marie Regier Buller on February 7, 1951 in Newton. Gus was a lifetime member of First Mennonite Church in Newton. He was a man with a positive and cheerful outlook on life. He communicated his fun-loving spirit to his grandchildren by giving them tractor rides, having them help feed the cattle, and watching them participate in their activities.

He was a farmer and stockman until he retired at 75. Gus and Marie moved to Kidron in North Newton in April 2003. Then Gus moved to Asbury Park full care in April 2006.

Survivors include one son, Vern Buller and his wife Ronit of Woodland Hills, Calif.; two daughters, Carol Buller Lind and her husband, Darrell of Omaha, Neb., and Judy Entz Peters and her husband, Charles of Park City; one brother, Arnold Entz of Newton; one sister Helen Klaassen of Newton; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Gus is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie, two sisters; Louise Wedel and Frieda Harder and two brothers; Alfred and Bernhard Entz.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday (Oct. 13, 2009) at First Mennonite Church in Newton. Internment will be in the Greenwood cemetery, Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

A memorial has been established with First Mennonite Church and Harry Hynes Hospice in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
