Helen D. Patton
Helen D. Patton, 85, of Newton died Tuesday (Sept. 8, 2009)
at Newton Medical Center. She was born April 24, 1924, in LaHarpe to Frederick
Leslie and Tena (Dow) Heathman. On Dec. 21, 1947, she married Robert Charles
Patton Sr. in Topeka. He preceded her in death in 1999. Helen was a homemaker
and worked alongside her husband, retiring as a secretary bookkeeper. She
performed in USO in World War II. She entertained troops singing in a trio. She
enjoyed board games and was a genuine people person. She enjoyed spending time
with her loving family and many friends.
Survivors include daughter, Janise and Samuel Enterkin of
Sedgwick; son, Robert and Joyce Patton Jr. of Columbia, Mo.; sister-in-law,
Helen Heathman of Kansas City, Kan.; sister-in-law, Mildred Heathman of Ottawa;
grandsons, Adam Enterkin, Cory Enterkin and Robert Charles Patton III;
granddaughter, Samantha Enterkin; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers,
Eugene Heathman and Fred Heathman Jr.; and sister, June Jury.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Thursday at the funeral home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home
in Newton with Chaplain Bill Regier of Newton Presbyterian Manor officiating.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 19 at Mount
Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
