Lyman Samuel Strout, 81, of Muskogee, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Broadway Manor Nursing Home.

He was born on May 19, 1931 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma to LeRoy and Lois Strout.  He entered the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and served four years.  He married Nadine Mankin on June 16, 1956 in Wilburton, Oklahoma, and moved to Wichita, Kansas.  He worked at Beach Aircraft and later served as a letter carrier in Denver, Colorado for three years.  Lyman traded jobs with someone in Muskogee and he and Nadine have lived here 48 years.  Lyman and Nadine were members of several Baptist Churches where Lyman served as an usher, Sunday School Superintendent, Financial Secretary, and mowed the lawn.  He sang tenor in the choir at one Church.  They joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church four years ago and Lyman was ordained as a Deacon one year later.  Lyman was an intercessor, loved God and people.  He has written three songs; the music was in his heart.  He was an avid reader and book collector and loved videos and tapes.

Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Lutie Cemetery on the edge of Wilburton.
