House Fire

July 24, 1899

Farm House Burned Last Night

The home of Harry Akins, about eight miles from the city, was burned last evening.  It was impossible to check the flames.  A large part of the household effects were saved.  The fire was probably caused by a detective flue.  Had there been a wind from the south, the barn would have been lost, too.  The Evening Kansan-Republican, Newton Kansas.  Monday, July 24, 1899.  Page 1.
