Family of Burrton
man killed in DUI crash remembers him, prays
for suspect
A Burrton family is
grieving and remembering 62 year old Charles "Chuck" Caselton. He was killed in a crash Saturday in Reno
County. The sheriff's office believes the woman who hit him was driving drunk.
Caselton's family
says they're praying not only for their own family, but also for the suspect
and her family.
"He was so
excited to go out yesterday," said Heather Hulett, one of his
daughters. But he never made it home.
"The police showed up to let us know he had passed in a motorcycle
accident," Hulett said. The Reno County Sheriff's Office says he was
riding westbound on E 30th Ave, when eastbound driver Jane Ellen Hart, 65,
tried to make a left turn on Prairie Dunes Drive and hit Caselton. The sheriff says they believe she was driving
drunk.
"Our family is
going to be impacted for the rest of all of our lives," Hulett said.
"He and my mom they were soul mates. He was the love of her life and he
was a father, a wonderful father," she said. His daughters describe him as
someone who loved nature and fishing, four-wheeling with the family, and of
course, riding his motorcycle.
They say was known
for his generosity, kindness, and could make anyone laugh. "He was
absolutely hysterical. He took every opportunity to crack a joke. And people
were drawn to that - his spirit, his
magnetism," Hulett said.
Despite their pain -
"Of course there's anger. He was our everything. And it's senseless,"
Hulett said. They're finding room in their hearts to think about the woman
investigators say caused their loss. "We'd
like to relay to Jane and her family, that our prayers are with you,"
Hulett said. "We are all loving Christian human beings and because of that
faith, we can extend that grace to her family in knowing they're going through
some really hard times too," she said. Hart will be charged with
involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence.
A group called
"Brotherhood of Mann" is collecting donations to help Caselton's
family with costs. - Deedee Sun, KWCH TV, Wichita, KS. Sunday, January 22, 2017.
