Robbie Lee Umholtz

Robbie Lee Umholtz, 88, died Wednesday (April 15, 2009) at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton.

She was born on July 20, 1920, in Clarksville, Ark., to Walter Hugh and Margaret Anna (Matthews) Bean. They preceded her in death.

She married Elmer Lloyd Umholtz on May 15, 1943, in Inglewood, Calif. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1991.

Robbie was a member of Old Main Street Church of Christ in Newton. Robbie greatly enjoyed tending her flowers and gardening. She was a long-term resident of Kidron Bethel Village, where she enjoyed her many friends and activities. Family was important to Robbie, and she looked forward to spending time with her loving family.

Survivors include sons, Ken Umholtz of Burrton and Tim K. Umholtz of Dallas; daughter, Glenna S. Graber of Newton; sisters, Ruby Selby of Lakewood, Calif., Mildred Brown of Knoxsville, Ark., Barbara Vaughn of Cape Coral, Fla., and Patricia Langston of Mississippi; brothers, John Bean of Columbus, Ind., and Mitchell Bean of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Bean Jr., and two sisters, Margaret Saunders and Eunice Pratt.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ, with minister Darrick Shepherd of Old Main Street Church of Christ officiating.

Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Old Main Street Church of Christ or the Preaching School Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
