Richard Rowland 'Dick' Bridgewater
Richard Rowland 'Dick' Bridgewater, 73, of Newton,
died Tuesday (March 17, 2009) at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St.
Francis campus, Harry Hynes Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Wichita.
Dick was born on Sept. 6, 1935, in Hutchinson, the
son of John Wesley and Grace A. (Rowland) Bridgewater. They preceded him in
death.
On Dec. 2, 1955, he married Karen Lee Hollowell at
South Hutchinson United Methodist Church in South Hutchinson.
Survivors include wife of 53 years, Karen, of
Newton; loyal dog, Maude; sons, Randy and wife, Jeanne, of Edgerton, Robert and
wife, Sandee, of Springdale, Ark., and Mitch of Ottawa; daughter, Missy Friesen
of Inman; mother-in-law, Lola Hollowell of Inman; brother, Jim and wife, Betty,
of Mexico, Mo.; sisters, Carol (Jim) Herrman of Derby, Terry (Darrell) Flaming
of Nappanee, Ind.; sister-in-law, Ruth Bridgewater of Carrollton, Texas;
grandchildren, Jayde (Amber), Alicia, Nathan, Sara, Kehl, Kyndel, Ethan,
Nicholas, Cody, Michelle and Mickayla; eight great-grandchildren; 16 nieces and
nephews; and other extended family and friends.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, John F.
'Jack' Bridgewater.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at
Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St. in Hutchinson, with the family receiving
friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Union
Valley Bible Church, 1916 E. 30th Ave. in Hutchinson.
Graveside service will follow at Mitchell Cemetery
in rural Hutchinson.
