Viola A. Ratzlaff

Viola A. Ratzlaff, 97, died Thursday (Jan. 22, 2009) at Bethesda Home in Goessel. She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Harvey County to Henry and Lizzie Glenn. She married Wilbur Ratzlaff on Dec. 28, 1937, in Harvey County, and they were married 71 years. He survives of Goessel. She was a school teacher and taught in several rural schools, Gordon School and Goessel Elementary School. She was a Sunday school teacher and an avid quilter. She was a member of Goessel Mennonite  Church.

Other survivors include sons, Bob (Betty) Ratzlaff of Wichita and Don (Linda) Ratzlaff of Rogers, Ark.; grandchildren, Keith and Nicole Ratzlaff, Brian and Amy Ratzlaff, Shelli and Tim Collins, and Tammy and Jake Gunden; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a twin sister, Vivian Pankratz Voth.

Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Goessel Mennonite Church, with Pastor Mike Hiebert officiating.

Burial will be at Goessel Mennonite Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Goessel Mennonite Church or Bethesda Home in care of the funeral home.
