F. A. Prouty has received a telegram from F. D. Branine, of Arkansas City, telling of the death of his father, Rev. G. W. Branine, which occurred at his home here at 10:25 Thursday night. The message stated that the funeral would be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock.

Rev. Branine was at one time Pastor of the Newton Methodist Church, and owned as a home the residence of Col. Perry M. Hoisington. He will be well remembered by many Newton people, and was an uncle to Ezra and Judge C. E. Branine. The message to Mr. Prouty read, "Your life-long friend, F. D. Branine," which Mr. Prouty state was entirely correct. Rev. Branine was in truth a life-long friend to all who knew him in the early days.
