Thurman Robert Bibb Jr.

Thurman Robert Bibb Jr., 64, Harvey County Sheriff's Office warrant and transport officer Badge number 925, died Saturday (Dec. 13, 2008) at his residence.

He was born July 2, 1944, at Martinez, Calif. to Thurman Robert and Jessie Mae (Robertson) Bibb.

He was a member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church, Newton, and served in the U.S. Navy.

On Feb. 28, 1969, he married Connie Jean Odorizzi at Renton, Wa., and on Sept. 17, 2005, he married Rhonda Sue Moody in Newton. Both survive.

Other survivors include a son, Steven Dake, Halstead; daughters Lissa (Clint) Pitts, Halstead, Carrie (Deric Lanham) Bibb, Wichita, Marci Moody, Newton, Christen Ray, Newton, Amy Hall, Newton, Ashley Dake, Wichita, Emily Dake, Newton, Hannah Bibb, Newton and Sadie Bibb, Newton; sisters, Diane Maxwell, Vaccaville, Calif. and Brenda Shereen, O'Fallon, Mo; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Robert Maxwell, and a half-brother.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.

Funeral service will be at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Community Church of Newton with Pastor Paul Wissink officiating.

Cremation will follow the service.

Memorials may be given to CASA or the Bibb Family Fund at First Bank of Newton, both in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
