Evelyn D. Simon
Evelyn D. Simon, 93, retired
caterer, died Friday (Nov. 14, 2008) at her residence in Halstead. She was born
Aug. 1, 1915, in Georgetown, Guyana, to John Huebert and Julia Orinthia (Van
Cooten) Skerrett. In 1935, she married Huebert Oswald Simon in Georgetown. He
died in 1993. She was a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Friends of St.
George's Cathedral, the Dorcus Society and the Peace Corps, all of Georgetown.
Survivors include a son, Irving (Dorothy) Simon of Halstead, and four
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her brothers, George and Randolph Skerrett, and a sister, Olga Moore.
Friends may call from 2 to 8
p.m. Thursday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead, with family present from
6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 2
p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Halstead.
Cremation will follow the
funeral.
Inurnment will be in
LeRepentaire Cemetery in Georgetown.
Memorials may be given to
HospiceCare of Kansas in care of Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
