Patricia J. 'Pat' Becker
Patricia J. 'Pat' Becker, 67,
of North Newton, passed away Monday (Aug. 4, 2008) at Newton Medical Center in Newton.
She was born July 25, 1941,
in Dallas, Ore., to Herman and Esther (Wiens) Harms.
On Aug. 12, 1960, she married
Larry Becker in Meade. He survives of the home.
Pat was an active member of
First Mennonite Church in Newton, where she was a member of the Christian
Fellowship Sunday School class and a former Church Board of Education member.
She was a former EHU member
and an advocate for a smoke-free Kansas. She also enjoyed scrapbooking.
Pat was very devoted to her
family and kept in daily contact with them and kept up on their activities. She
greatly enjoyed spending time with her loving family and many friends.
Other survivors include her
mother, Esther Harms of Meade; sons, Bryan and Kathy Becker of North Newton,
and Bruce and Christina Becker of Newberg, Ore.; daughter, Brenda and Scott
Moyar of Newton; brothers, Ken Harms of Wichita and Marv Harms of Lincoln,
Neb.; granddaughters, Alyssa Becker of North Newton and Aspen Becker of
Newberg; and grandsons, Kyle Becker of North Newton and Wade Becker of Newberg.
She was preceded in death by
her father, Herman Harms.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving
friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 11
a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church in Newton, with Pastor Clarence Rempel
and Pastor Joan Boyer of the church officiating.
A private family burial will
be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
