Obituary

Helen Irene Graber Bahre, 90, of Lyons, passed away Sunday (May 6, 2018) at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. She was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Moundridge, the daughter of John P. and Anna K. Goering Graber. She graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1946.

Helen worked in the offices of Axtell Hospital in Newton and the Rice County Hospital in Lyons. She also worked as the secretary for the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City.

Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lyons; Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Newton; and Sweet Adelines in Lyons. Helen and her husband of 70 years, Roland, enjoyed traveling the country with the Wheat State Campers.

Helen is survived by her son, John and wife Judy Bahre of Topeka; daughter, Susan and husband Larry Wareham of Waller, Texas; sister, Evelyn Koehn of Wichita; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland Bahre; three brothers, Clarence, Bill and Vern Graber; and three sisters, Edna Graber, Mildred Bartrug and Marge Dyck.

A family burial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday (May 10, 2018) at the First Mennonite Church Cemetery, Moundridge. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday (May 10, 2018) at the First Presbyterian Church, Lyons, with Rev. Lara MacGregor officiating.

Memorials can be made to the Topeka Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
