Obituary

Ada M. Koehn, 92, died Monday (May 21, 2018) at Newton Medical Center. She was born July 15, 1925, in McPherson County to David and Dena (Nightengale) Schmidt. On Sept. 28, 1947, she married Ervy D. Koehn and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1999.

Ada moved from the Galva community to Burns in 1954 and was a member of the Eden Church of God in Christ Mennonite in rural Burns. She worked alongside her husband as a farm wife and homemaker and loved to take care of her family, who she greatly adored.

She is survived by her children, Lyle and Finette Koehn, Jerald and Regina Koehn, and Linda and Bruce Koehn, all of Burns; son-in-law, Sammy and Linda Byrnes of Gentry, Arkansas; brothers: Chester Schmidt of Galva, Kermit Schmidt and Orman Schmidt, both of McPherson, Howard Schmidt of Galva and Norman Schmidt of Moundridge. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended relations.

Ada is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Ronney; daughter-in-law, Karen Koehn Byrnes; two grandsons, Arlen and Shalan; brothers, Alan and Buford Schmidt; and sisters: Sadie Ratzlaff, Esther Ratzlaff, Madeline Jantz and Rosalind Schmidt.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday (May 25, 2018) at the Eden Mennonite Church in Burns. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday (May 24, 2018), with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Eden Mennonite Cemetery, rural Burns.

Memorials are suggested to Eden Christian School in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
