Obituary
Edna Elizabeth Foth was born on Feb. 3,
1927, in Goessel and passed to her eternal glory on Wednesday (May
30, 2018), having reached the age of 91. She was born to Edward Foth
and Sarah Franz Foth. She attended Springfield School during her
elementary years and graduated from Goessel High School in 1945.
During her senior year of high school
she met Martin M. Thomas, who was two years older. They married just
a few weeks after high school graduation. To this union were born
Donna Raye in 1947, Roger David in 1948 and Janice Kaye in 1951.
They farmed and Edna gained experience
driving a tractor, doing field work and milking cows. Later, she
attended Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, completing what
was usually a nine-month course of study in only six months. After
that, she began working as an accountant at Crabb's Town &
Country, a business located in McPherson selling musical instruments
including pianos and electronic organs, as well as small and large
appliances. She later worked in sales at Brunk's Jewelry, also in
McPherson, and as a hostess at the Colonial House Restaurant in
Hesston.
After Martin's death in October of
1978, she met and later married Virgil Anderson in May of 1980. They
were married for 24 years before divorcing. She later moved to Kidron
Bethel Village and lived there until entering health care at Kidron
Bethel in May of 2017.
She was preceded in death by her
mother, Sarah Foth; spouse, Martin Thomas; and former spouse, Virgil
Anderson.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna
R. Stucky (Mark) and Janice K. Gilmore; son, Roger D. Thomas
(Sharon); grandchildren: Tim Thomas, Jeanette Thomas, Haley Majernik,
Alex Stucky, Alison Lawson, Joe David Gilmore and Toby Gilmore; and
15 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday
(June 18, 2018) at West Zion Church. Family will greet friends from 4
to 6 p.m. Sunday (June 17, 2018) at Moundridge Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Kidron Bethel
Village Health Care Benevolent Fund or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice,
in care of Moundridge Funeral Home.
