Donald M. Munds Tahlequah Okla. - Donald M. Munds of Cookson, OK was born in Russell Kansas in 1942 and passed away surrounded by family on May 19, 2018. He graduated from Burrton High School and attended Hutchinson Junior College. He worked 35 years for AT&T as a lineman and retired as a manager in 2000.He married his wife, Carol in Wichita and they moved to Cookson, OK to live on the banks of Lake Tenkiller for 29 years.He was always active and worked hard all his life. He could fix anything. He had an adventurous spirit and traveled with his wife Carol all over the country in their RV spending the last 18 winters in Alamo, TX. He enjoyed visiting Africa with family just a few months before he passed. Over the years he spent many hours working in the wood shop making keepsakes for loved ones. He was also on the first responder team helping during medical emergencies in their park. He loved to laugh and always had a fun trick waiting for those he loved. He loved time at the lake. He could catch fish when no one else was and was adept at making sure the fish found their way to the grandkids poles. He could ski on one ski while wearing a hat and never get wet.He was preceded in death by: his mother and father, Johnny and Nora Ellen Munds; brother, JL (Janey, surviving); and sister, Susann (Ernest, surviving).In addition to his surviving wife, Carol Munds, other surviving family members are: Sally Ediger, Donald Munds, Jr. (Maru), Debbie Henderson (Mark) and their mother, Judy Hampton, Catherine Etheridge, Betty Jo Lawson, JoAnn Russell (Chad), eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.Family and friends will celebrate his life at 2 p.m. on June 4, 2018, in Burrton, KS at the Faith Community Bible Church. A reception and visitation with family will be held after the service at the church and the family would love to share stories of Don's love and the fun he always had.
