Richard A. Boster

BURRTON - Richard A. Boster, 71, died Saturday (March 29, 2008) at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson.

He was born Sept. 27, 1936, at Larned, the son of Darrell W. and Elda M. (Wonsetler) Boster.

A graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree and a master's degree, he also earned a Ph.D at Texas A&M University. He was a doctor of veterinary medicine in the U.S. Air Force, working for NASA. He retired from the Air Force, reaching the rank of major. In his retirement, he was a rural mail carrier and a cattleman.

He was a member of the Burrton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a brother, D. W. "Wayne" Boster of Wichita; and sisters, Jan Duncan of Wichita and Rochelle Boster of Newton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Steven and Philip Boster.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead, with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Burrton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Frank Morgan officiating.

A private inurnment will be at Burrton Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine or Burrton United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
