MESA, Ariz. - James J. Bocock passed away Feb. 29, 2008, in Mesa.

He was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Wichita to Stanley K. and Anna Turek Bocock.

Jim graduated from Newton High School in 1949 and relocated to Arizona in 1979.

He spent his working life as a construction superintendent. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge of Scottsdale and the El Zaribah Shrine of Phoenix. Jim loved to work in his shop, making anything from furniture to gag gifts, and he could fix or build anything. His favorite pastimes were camping and fishing.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Esther; children, Nancy Rosen of Portland, Maine, Terry Montano of Newton and David Bocock of Lee's Summit, Mo.; brother, Robert Bocock of San Antonio; five step-children; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth S. Bocock.

Jim donated his body to science so he could help others, even after he was gone. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made to the El Zaribah transportation unit, which helps children get to treatments at Shriner hospitals around the country.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
