Mike Berg,
55, of Newton passed away Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2008) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born
March 13, 1952, in Hutchinson to Bedie and Dorothy (Lake) Berg. They preceded
him in death.
Mike married
Charlene Henderson at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Newton. She survives of
Newton.
He enjoyed
restoring old cars and teaching neighborhood children and family about
mechanics. He loved driving his John Deere mower with his children and
grandchildren.
Mike enjoyed
camping at Harvey County Lake and Marion Lake. He loved to play cards and
checkers with his grandkids. He also liked to bowl and go fishing.
He was a
veteran of the U.S. Army.
Other
survivors include son, Michael "Scott" Berg of Newton; daughters,
Marcella Becker and Sherri Segura, both of Newton; brothers, Kenneth Berg of
Satellite Beach, Fla., and Jerold Berg of Salina; and six grandchildren.
He also was
preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Berg.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family
greeting friends from 3 to 4 p.m.
Funeral
service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Newton,
with Pastor Paul Wissink of the church officiating.
Burial will
be at Mound Township Cemetery in Moundridge.
Memorial
contributions may be made to St. Luke in care of the funeral home.
