Zelda Schmidt
Zelda Schmidt, 95, died
Tuesday (April 25, 2006) at Kidron Bethel Healthcare in North Newton. She was born
Nov. 21, 1910, to Henry P. and Susie (Ewert) Harms in rural Harvey County. They
preceded her in death. She married Ernest L. Schmidt, who preceded her in death
on June 10, 1949. Zelda was a member of Grace Hill Mennonite Church in rural
Newton. She greatly enjoyed her church and church activities. She retired as
the office manager for the former Herald Book and United Printing in Newton.
She was also a member of the Women's Credit Bureau.
Survivors include: daughters,
Iris and John Siemens of Derby, Carol and Don Peterson of Wilton, Conn.;
grandsons, Kent and Diane Siemens of Olathe, David and Teri Peterson of New
Milford, Conn., Douglas and Leyla Peterson of Torrington, Conn.;
granddaughters, Kay and Dan Ward of Derby, Greta Siemens of Wichita, Joni and
Michael Osadchey of New Port Richey, Fla.; 10 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in
death by: brothers, Walter, Fred, Albert, and Elmer Harms; sisters, Gussie
Harms, Lydia Schmidt, Edna Reisen, Dora Harms; and grandson, Jeffery Siemens.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen
Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10
a.m. Saturday at Grace Hill Community Church with Pastor James Voth
officiating.
Burial will be in Grace Hill
Cemetery.
Memorials have been
established with Grace Hill Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
