Harold George Jones

Harold George Jones, 90, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013. He was born March 25, 1922 in Newton, KS, the son of George W. and Emma (Fast) Jones. Harold worked at the Department of Transportation for the State of Kansas as a photographer. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1944-1947. He was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served many roles for more than 50 years, including deacon, trustee and landscaper. Harold loved fishing, gardening, traveling, hunting and photography.


He married Letha (Rhoades) Jones on Nov. 27, 1947, she survives. Other survivors include his son Gerald (Marcia) Jones, daughter Linda (Greg) Currie; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by daughter Glenda McCarter, brother Clifford L. Jones and grandson Zachary Currie.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, March 11, 2013, at Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Rochester Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Jones will lie in state after 1:00 pm Sunday; the family will receive friends from 2-4 pm at Davidson Funeral Home.
