Robert Wiederstein


Robert Wiederstein, 81, passed away on Monday (July 5, 2010) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1928, in Newton to Harry and Helen Unruh Wiederstein.

He was a farmer, living in Scott City for many years and moving to Hesston 11 years ago.

He was a past member of the Gospel Fellowship Church in Shallow Water. He was a member of the Garden Community Church in rural Hesston.

On May 3, 1950, he married Marguerite M. Tharp in Scott City. She survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Evelyn Christner and husband Merle of Cumberland, Md., Debra Fry and husband Mike of Wichita, and Phyllis Wilson and husband Evan of Wichita; one brother, Merle Wiederstein and wife Leona of Garden City; one sister, Maxine Koehn of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard; and two grandchildren, Kaylynn Wilson and Daniel Fry.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Hesston.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Garden Community Church Cemetery in rural Hesston.

A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at Garden Community Church, with Pastors Gary Janzen and Wendy Miller officiating.

Memorial gifts may be made to Schowalter Villa in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 107 S. Lancaster St., Hesston, KS 67062.
