Vesta E. Burner
Vesta E. Burner, 90, died
Saturday (Dec. 31, 2005) in Farmington Hills, Mich. She was born May
30, 1915, to Edward James and Anna Margaret (Randolph) McKee in
Marysville. They preceded her in death. She married John D. Burner
May 30, 1938. He preceded her in death April 23, 1980. Vesta was
active with the Newton Girl Scouts in the 1950s. She was chairman of
their annual cookie sale for several years. Vesta taught Sunday
school classes for children at First Baptist Church of Newton. She
loved music, reading and gardening.
Survivors include:
daughters, Anne (Burner) Hommes of Farmington, Mich., Barbara Sutton
of Chesterfield, Mo., and Jane DeBenedette of Herndon, Va.; a sister,
Mary Louise (McKee) Schmidt of Overland Park; five grandchildren; and
six great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be
10 a.m. Thursday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory with Pastor John Bliss
of First Baptist Church in Newton officiating.
Memorials have been
established with the American Diabetes Association Research Fund in
care of Petersen Funeral Home.
