Wanda Ruth Burns

Wanda Ruth Burns died Wednesday (Dec. 20, 2006) at Asbury Park Retirement Home in Newton. She was born Dec. 29,1926, in rural Cheyenne County to Carl Wilmer and Eula Glesna Heselius of Cheyenne County. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1945. In 1946, she married Thomas F. Burns of Wichita. They moved to Newton in 1965. She worked for Hehr International for many years and retired in 1992. Survivors include daughters Carolyn and Perry Waltman, and Susanna and Jack Fornwalt, all of Newton; sons Carl and Barbara Burns of Newton, and Richard and Mary Bums of Seattle; stepson William and Ann Burns of Covington, La.; stepdaughter Roberta Goins of Wichita; grandchildren, Carl Burns Jr., Cathleen Nance, Bethany Lippie, Cheryl Childers, William Burns Jr., Gary Burns (deceased), Jackie Tamillo, Mistie Clark, Jimmie Goins, Wendie Gable and Gayle Irwin; great-grandchildren, John, Taylor, Jeffrey, Dallas, Nicole, Phoenix, Gavin, Jade, Jacob, Amy, Chase, Sarah, Jessie, Josie, Vanessa, Katherine, Jared, Elizabeth, Sam and Jacob; and great-great-grandchild Avyon.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 28 at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Newton, with the Rev. Paul Wissink officiating.
