Family Obituary

Shaun Angelo Corcoran, 54, died on April 9, 2020.

He was born April 22, 1955, in Hutchinson to George A. and Louise (Griep) Corcoran.  Shaun attended grade school in Burrton and Trinity High School, Hutchinson. He served as chief of police in Burrton from 1990 to 2002. For the past 30 years, he owned and operated Southwest Wheels. Shaun was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Halstead.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the following: the staff of the Cancer Center of Newton for their years of service, the wonderful people of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Newton, and Lisa Williams, Shaun’s devoted caregiver.

Surviving are two sons, Patrick, Tucson Ariz., and Connor, Ft. Collins, Colo., as well as two grandchildren, Austin and Brooke. Also surviving are six siblings: Vicki Evans (Leonard), Jan Corcoran (Edna), Kay George (Roger), Kim Corcoran (Linda), Chad Corcoran, and Michelle Griffith (Marvin), many nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets Bonnie and Scratchy.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lou Ann (Schoenecker) Corcoran.

In lieu of flowers, he requested memorial gifts be made to Hope In The Valley Equine Rescue and Sanctuary, 9025 N. Broadway, Valley Center KS 67147.  A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
