Faye I. Sheckler

HESSTON - Faye I. Sheckler, 71, died Thursday (May 3, 2007) at Newton Medical Center in Newton.

She was born on Oct. 29, 1935, in Kalispell, Mont., to Elmer and Estelle (Bowman) Long. They preceded her in death. On March 3, 1962, she married Earl Sheckler in Olympia, Wash. He survives at home. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxillary and past president of the Hill City Ladies VFW Auxillary. She enjoyed crocheting and geneology. She also looked forward to and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors also include a son, John Sheckler of Newton; daughters, Ruth Relyea of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Ethel Jones of Newton; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by sons, Frank Brown and Lyle Sheckler, Herman Sheckler; a daughter, Carla Brown; infant twins; and brothers, Roy Long, Lyle Long and Lowell Long.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston with Chaplain Beverly Baumgartner officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
