Lawrence Burch
Lawrence Burch, 82, died Tuesday (May
1, 2007) at Presbyterian Manor in Newton.
He was born on May 5, 1924, in St.
John. He graduated from Belmont High School and attended Hutchinson
Business College after he returned from World War II. He served in
the 345th Infantry Regiment, 87th Infantry Division during the war
and was given a Purple Heart for wounds he received in Luxembourg.
For many years he worked for Lens Art Photo in Wichita. He also
worked for L & D Enterprises. He was long time member of Linwood
Nazarene Church in Wichita, where he served as treasurer for 15
years. Following his move to Newton in 2001, he attended First
Nazarene Church. He was raised on a farm and loved gardening. He grew
wonderful vegetables and flowers which he shared generously with many
friends. He also enjoyed travel and photography.
Survivors include daughter, Tracy and
husband Bruce Brotherton; sons, Ronald Burch and wife Julie; Kevin
Burch and wife Cheryl; a sister, Evelyn East of Kingman; and seven
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, Delbert and Lillian (Holcomb) Burch; wife, Vada (Clark)
Burch; sisters, Lorna Osborn, Donna Clark.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at
Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita with visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be
made to Harry Hynes Hospice of Newton in care of the funeral home.
