Gladys Balzer
HESSTON - Gladys Balzer, 90,
retired brush dealer, died Friday (Feb. 3, 2006) at Schowalter Villa in
Hesston. She was born Nov. 21, 1915 to P.N. and Mary Seibel Unger in Peabody.
She married Elmer Dewey Balzer in rural Hillsboro Aug. 11, 1938. He died Oct.
13, 1992. She was a Fuller Brush dealer, receiving her 30 year pin in 1996. She
loved her family, especially her grandchildren and was always ready to go to
any and all of their activities. She was a good cook and baker. Her pies melted in your mouth. She baked
cinnamon rolls for neighbors, friends and grandchildren. She loved music. She
played the piano by ear.
She is survived by a son and
daughter in law, Francis and Jaquie Balzer of Newton; a daughter and son in law
Barbara and James Soth of Newton; three grandsons and their wives, Terrance and
Sharon Soth of Newton, Jason and Stacy Balzer of Walled Lake, Mi., and David
and Amanda Balzer of Newton; a granddaughter and husband Stephanie and Steve
Roth of Wichita; a brother, Harry Unger of Peabody; a sister, Edna Schmidt of
Hesston; and five great-grandchildren, Brycen Soth, Jeremy Balzer, Sydney
Balzer, Tyer Roth and Jaden Roth.
Visitation will be in the
Broadway Colonial Home Chapel from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday with family greeting
friends and relatives from 3 to 5 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 2
p.m. Monday at Bethel College Mennonite Church. Burial will be at Greenwood
Cemetery.
Memorials have been
established with the Compassionate Friends of Harvey County in care of the
funeral home.
