Jacob S. 'Jake' Hiebert WHITEWATER -- Jacob S. "Jake" Hiebert, 91, retired farmer and builder, died Monday (Feb. 9, 2004) at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater. He was born Dec. 9, 1912, to Jacob C. and Susanna (Goossen) Hiebert in Lehigh. They preceded him in death. He married Mary Schmidt April 14, 1937, at Tabor Mennonite Church in Goessel. She survives of the home. From 1944 to 1961, he lived on a farm three miles south of Whitewater, and then moved into Whitewater where he lived until his death. He was a member of the Swiss Church and had served many years as a trustee. Other survivors include: a son, Willard Hiebert of Moorhead, Minn.; a daughter, Gladys Walling of Winifred, Mont.; a sister, Edna Hiebert of Newton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday with family greeting friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bob Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Swiss Church with Pastors Dale Janzen and Arnold Enz officiating. Burial will be in Swiss Church Cemetery in Whitewater. Memorials have been established with Ponca Bible Camp and Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care of the funeral home, 216 S. Main Street, Whitewater, KS 67154.
