Grace H. Unruh

Grace H. Unruh, 89, died Sunday (Jan. 1, 2006) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was born Aug. 22, 1916, to Fred B. and Mathilda (Wedel) Schmidt in Greensburg. They preceded her in death. She married Clarence C. Unruh July 23, 1936, in Greensburg. He survives of the home. She and her husband farmed for many years in the Greensburg area. Grace was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton since moving to town in 1957. She was a volunteer at the church and Bethel Deaconess Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and families, and she especially enjoyed cooking her families' favorite dishes.

Other survivors include: a son, Charles and Irene Unruh of Oswego, Ill.; daughters, Carol Kirk of Paola and Rachel and Michael Clark of Grapevine, Texas; eight grandchildren; and eight-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Mennonite Church with Pastors Clarence Rempel, Joan Boyer and Verney Unruh officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with First Mennonite Church and Mennonite Missions Network, both in care of the funeral home.
