John Burns passed away August 13, 2022
at ComfortCare Homes in Newton, KS.
He was born in Wichita, KS on July 24,
1945 to George and Annabel Burns. He proudly served in the United
States Army before meeting the love of his life, Bentura ?Penny?
Corona. They were married in Newton, KS at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church on January 9, 1971. John and Penny lived in Newton
and raised four children, Christopher, Brian, Nichole, and Chad.
John was employed by Cessna Aircraft in
Wichita. John and Penny celebrated 34 years of marriage before Penny
passed away from cancer in 2005. John missed Penny dearly but found
enjoyment playing golf and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He
was a devout Catholic and spent much of his time at his church, Our
Lady of Guadalupe.
John is survived by his children, Chris
Burns (Sandy Navarro), Brian Burns (Julie), Nichole Willis (Ward),
Chad Burns, 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents,
George Burns and Annabel Orman, his wife Penny Burns, his grandson
Ian Burns, and greatgrandson Oliver Davidson.
The casket will be open at the funeral
home on Wednesday (August 17th) between 12:00 Noon and 5:00 P.M.
The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will
be 7:00 P.M., Wednesday (August 17th) at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church in Newton.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at
10:00 A.M., Thursday (August 18th) also at the church. Interment will
be at St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Newton, KS.
The family requests in lieu of flowers
that donations be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Contributions may be
sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS.
