Miss Brenda K. Reed
LAWRENCE ? Brenda K. Reed, 50, of Lawrence, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at her home. She was born on Sept. 9, 1960, at Newton, the daughter of John F. and Virginia L. (Lueker) Reed. Miss Reed was currently working at the U.S. Bank at Overland Park. She was a past member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington; where she was baptized and confirmed. She was raised in Herington and graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1978. She received her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Kansas in 1982. She worked as a pre-school teacher, and then later worked at Sprint/Intercall in Kansas City for many years. Survivors include her mother Virginia Reed of Newton; three sisters, Janice Crowder of Enterprise, Donna Reed of Topeka, and Nita Baird of Herington; and three nieces, three great-nieces, and three great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father John Reed on Oct. 27, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington; with the Rev. Troy Slater officiating. Burial will follow at the Lincolnville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel; where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to the A.S.P.C.A. or a local animal shelter and sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS, 67449-3038.
