William “Willie” C. Van Horn was the son of Thomas B. & Ara Anne Van Horn of Halstead. His birth date is unknown, but it appears from the 1870 Census that Willie was about 10 years old at the time of his death. No other newspaper accounts have as yet been found. There had been significant rain in the previous days which caused flooding throughout this part of Kansas. – Darren McMannis for the Harvey County Genealogical Society.
