James Lewis, a man at the Poor Farm, who has been subject to fits, drowned himself last Friday afternoon (April 14) in the small creek which runs through the farm.  Mr. Devlin left Lewis in the field harrowing while he went to the house a few moments, and on returning found the team standing quietly, and Lewis lying dead in the water near by.  The Newton Kansan, Newton Kansas.  Thursday, April 20, 1882.  Page 3.
