Dancing Causes A Girl’s Death.  Physician Declares That Charleston Is Dangerous For Young Women.  Seneca, KS – The recent death of Evelyn Myers, 17, was “due to dancing the Charleston,” her physician, Dr. W. R. Boyer of Pawnee City, Nebr., said in a statement made public today. Dr. Bower declared that the strenuous exercise of the Charleston is particularly dangerous for young women and that it may easily induce inflammation of the peritoneum.  Miss Myers, a Seneca High School senior, became ill about two weeks ago with peritonitis. She died last Wednesday.  The Evening Kansan-Republican, Newton KS. Monday February 15, 1926. Page 3.  (c) Transcribed by Darren McMannis for the Harvey County Genealogical Society.
