Newton Man Dies
A 65-year-old retired Newton man died Sunday afternoon in a traffic accident east of Newton that apparently resulted from a heart attack, investigating officers said.  Dead is Alvin Wakentin, 211 SE 11th, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Bethel Deaconess Hospital.  Warkentin, who was eastbound on US-50 about one mile and a half southwest of Walton, slumped over the wheel and lost control of the car, his wife, Elfrieda, told Highway Patrolman Dave Mee.  The vehicle went off the west side of the highway and hit a guard rail.  Mrs. Warkentin received a cut on the head.  Mee said a passerby attempted to revive him.  His personal physician said Warkentin had a problem of cardiac arrest and had been checked two days previously.  His death will not be listed on the county record as a traffic fatality, officers said.  The Newton Kansan, Newton Kansas.  November 5, 1977.
