Newton Accident Victim Serious
Dallas Matzenbacher, 25, Newton, who was injured in a July 21 car accident in Sedgwick County, is not in serious condition at Wichita Osteopathic Hospital. His condition was changed from critical on Sunday. Another passenger in the car, Debra Schulz, 20, Newton, is in fair condition at Wesley Medical Center as is 13-year-old Mark Sutherland, Halstead. Mark’s twin, Mike Sutherland, is in fair condition at St. Francis Hospital. Jean Sutherland, Halstead, Matzenbacher’s mother, was killed in the accident. The Hutchinson News, Hutchinson Kansas. Jean Sutherland, 44, died Sunday (July 22) of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Wichita. Born Jean Spielman Sept. 17, 1934 at Wichita, she was an employee of Mobile Components, Halstead, and a lifetime area resident. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion; verteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Survivors: sons: Dallas Matzenbacher, Newton; Gregory A. Sutherland, Michael R. Sutherland, Mark E. Sutherland, all of the home; mother: Mrs. Carrie Clinton, Newton; brothers: Reid A. Spielman Jr., El Segundo, Calif.; Glen Spielman, Newton; half-brother: Charles O. Pinkston, U.S. Navy, stationed in the Pacific. Funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday (July 26) at First United Methodist Church, Newton; Rev. Keith Dudeck.
