Mrs. Patricia L. (Grunert) Smith, 32, of Walton Rt. 1, a certified nurse aide at Friendly Acres, was killed late Sunday afternoon (April 11, 1982) in an automobile accident  The accident occurred late Sunday afternoon on TR827, about 60 yards south of CR560.  The late-model pickup she was driving went left of center for unknown reasons and she swerved to the right apparently in an attempt to miss a concrete bridge and missed the bridge.  As she swerved back to the left, the vehicle went into a broadside skid into the west ditch and flipped over on the right side, according to the sheriff’s department report.  Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Draper-Cannon Chapel with the Rev. Fred Spinder, Pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  She was born Sept. 9, 1949, in Newton, the daughter of Carl H. and Florence L. Ritter Grunert.  On Dec. 12, 1969, she married Charles G. Smith in Newton.  She had lived all of her life in Harvey County.  She was a member of St. Luke United Presbyterian Church in Newton,  She is survived by her husband of the home in Walton, and her parents.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard, in 1946.  Friends may call at Draper-Cannon Funeral Home until 9 o’clock tonight and until service time Wednesday.  (The Newton Kansan, Newton Kansas.
