Colored Veterans VFW Post

Floyd Jenkins is the commander of a new Veterans of Foreign Wars post composed of colored veterans of the community, which was instituted here at the colored Masonic hall Monday evening.  The new post starts off with 16 members, and it is said that there are 41 veterans eligible for membership in the city.

The boys were aided by Harold Freeman, who is with the State employment service in getting lined up and in securing the presence of Harold Yeager of Belle Plaine, Fifth district commander of the V.F.W., who instituted the new post with the aid of Capt. Sam W. Jones, of Wichita, an old veteran.

Other officers of the new post who will work with Commander Jenkins include Victor Powell, senior vice; Ernest Wade, junior vice; Lewis Anderson, quarter master, and Henry Holliday, chaplain.

They will hold meetings regularly at the Masonic hall.
